Phil is a senior executive with 30 years’ experience underwriting, pricing, and managing diverse portfolios of illiquid investments on behalf of institutional investors.
Phil has directed asset management operations of investment portfolios ranging in size from $50 million to more than $5 billion. Clients, partners, and employers have included Värde Partners, J.E. Robert Companies (JER), Deutsche Bank, GE Capital, GMAC, Wilshire Financial Services, University Savings, NCNB, Obsidian Finance, and First City Financial Services. Responsibilities have included due diligence, pricing, loan servicing, acquisitions, real estate marketing, and sales. While at JER, for example, Phil managed business units responsible for recovering the loan and real estate portfolios of several US banks and S&L receiverships as well as five Mexican banks. He also underwrote and recovered portfolios of financial assets in England, France, Columbia, and Venezuela.
Phil founded Blue Impact Capital Management, LLC, which made mortgage portfolio investments in partnership with Värde, Merrill Lynch, and Shelving Rock Partners. Phil began his career as a bank examiner for the US Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. He has served on the Trust Committee overseeing the liquidation of Conti Financial and as a board member for NGOs including Casa Alianza and Espacios Naturales.
Phil holds a BS in finance from Oklahoma State University.
