Why have we chosen the name “Quaestor” for some of our affiliated companies? Because it invokes the intensity of purpose that guides all Arena companies. Quaestor, from the Latin, means “one who asks questions.” In the ancient Roman Republic, quaestors were financial investigators, entrusted with taking care of the public treasury and sent out to the provinces to collect taxes, perform audits, and help ensure the financial health of the republic.

Across all of the Arena companies, we practice what the Roman Stoics called premeditatio malorum, or the premeditation of adverse events—imagining in advance what might go wrong, and planning for it. At the same time, we move deliberately but swiftly to capitalize on opportunities and drive toward positive outcomes.

We use a chariot for the Quaestor Strategic Advisors logo because in ancient engagements, highly skilled charioteers were often the first deployed; with swiftness and great purpose, they opened the way for success.
